Recently Apple introduced iPhone 4S instead of a completely redesigned iPhone 5.

According to media observers and analysts, Apple may be release the iPhone 5 in 2012 or may be till the availability of 4G LTE network technology for compact smartphones.

So, it seems like iPhone 5 will be coming with 4G LTE technology having much faster upload and download speeds as compared to the current 3G network technology. So, it also means that we are going to see the iPhone 5 in 2012.

Steven P. Jobs, the Apple Inc. former chairman and co-founder who pioneered the personal-computer industry and changed the way people think about technology, died Wednesday at the age of 56.

His family, in a statement released by Apple, said Mr. Jobs “died peacefully today surrounded by his family.”

Jobs had battled cancer in 2004 and underwent a liver transplant in 2009 after taking a leave of absence for unspecified health problems. He took another leave in January — his third since his health problems began

New iOS 5 Apps:

Cards: An app which allows you to create and mail gorgeous cards right from your iPhone or iPod touch.

Find My Friends app: You can locate your friends and family using this app, provided they are sharing their location.

The prices will start at $199 for 8GB version, followed by $299 for 16GB and $399 for 32GB. Sprint will also begetting iPhone 4S in US this time around, along with AT&T and Verizon Wireless, calling it the World Phone.

At first glance … this is the iPhone 3G vs. the iPhone 3GS all over again.  If you have the iPhone 4, more than likely you can skip this upgrade, but if you have anything earlier than that, well, you may still want to hold out for whatever the next eventual iPhone will be called.  If the iPhone 4 didn’t entice you in 2010, there’s not enough new in this one to make much of a difference.

Overview:

Apple is calling iPhone 4s as world phone. It supports both GSM and CDMA network and comes in both black and white color with same prices. As mentioned above, Apple didn’t redesign iPhone this time – iPhone 4S looks exactly like iPhone 4 – however, there are plenty of upgrades in terms of hardware (and software obviously).

Processor:

It’ll run on a scaled down version of the dual core A5 chip (which is the same as the one on the iPad). The graphics are supposed to be seven times better than the iPhone 4 and CPU performance will be double that of its predecessor.

Enhanced Camera:

The camera also gets an improvement. The 8MP unit in the iPhone 4S will have a “five element lens” which will be capable of a resolution of 3264×2448. Photo capture and the rear light will also be faster and brighter respectively.

The phone will be capable of shooting 1080p and feature real time video image stabilization as well, which is a feature new for smartphones. There’s another feature called the Hybrid IR filter, but what everything basically means is that the camera on the iPhone 4S will be a lot better than anything on the previous models.

Battery and Antenna:

Battery timings of the phone, Apple claims, will be up to 8 hours of 3G talk times, 14 hours of 2G talk time, 6 hours of 3G browsing, and 9 hours of Wi-Fi browsing. It seems that Apple took a note from the antenna fiasco with the iPhone 4; the iPhone 4S will feature dual antennas. It will switch between the two to provide the best performance for call quality and download speed.

Siri

One of the features that I’m sure will be talked about a lot is Siri, the intelligent assistant. The idea is that you can ask your phone any question and it will answer it. Questions could be like what the weather is, or you could ask it to read a text message or you could ask it to set an alarm for a specific time. It can even search Wikipedia and Wolfram-Alpha to look for answers to your questions.

Initially it will support English, French and German. But the service is being launched in beta so more services and support will be added later.

When iPhone 4S is launching?

The launch of the iPhone 4S will be paired with the release of the updated iOS 5 on 12 October. It will include a host of improvements like new notification updates system, wireless updates and twitter integration among others.

Price:

The iPhone 4S will be available in the usual 16GB and 32 GB models as well as a 64 GB model, which is new for Apple.

Prices will be 199$, 299$, and 399$ for the 16, 32 and 64 GB models respectively. The phone will launch on October 14^th, with pre-orders starting a week early.

iPhone 4S won’t be available in Pakistan till November 2011, we have confirmed with online retailors. They say price would be around 60,000-65,000; but they haven’t made their minds so far.

Retailors say getting unlocked iPhone, particularly in bulk, won’t be easy compared to earlier iPhone releases. However, they are working their best to make iPhone 4S available in Pakistan. When? it’s still a question for many.

Just three weeks ago, Apple rolled out the eighth beta of iTunes 10.5.

  Now Apple seeded iTunes 10.5 beta 9 to the developers.

It seems that they are going to release the final version after the media event on October 4.

This beta will also help the developers to write their apps and services according to the latest version of iTunes. Well, just like other betas, this one also came with usual list of known bugs.

MacRumor posted the list of known bugs from the release:

- “Scan and match” feature is not yet complete. Some users’ tracks may not be recognized by iTunes Match even if the tracks are available in the iTunes Store, and those tracks will be uploaded to the users’ iCloud storage. Some tracks may also be mis-matched to a different version of the same song on the iTunes Store. 

- Music can only be added to iCloud from one computer at a time. 

- Updating an iOS device to iOS 5 beta 7 may result in music failing to play. Users should turn off iTunes Match in settings and then turn it back on to restore functionality. 

According to Techmeme today report that Apple has removed iPod click wheel games from its iTunes App Store. Well, it only gives the clue that yet another device is going towards the graveyard of technology. Now Apple has plans to discontinue iPod classic, as a report from last week indicated that both iPod classic and iPod nano are going to be discontinued by Apple.
